St. Charles Community Middle/High School will be hosting a Job Fair on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Spring 2023 Saginaw Area Health Careers Pipeline Program
The Mid Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC), in partnership with Central Michigan University (CMU) College of Medicine are pleased to offer a Health Careers Pipeline Program to 9th and 10th grade students enrolled in Saginaw region schools. The HCPP will help students develop their confidence and a support system for their journey into post-secondary education and beyond.
The Health Careers Pipeline Program (HCPP) will empower high school students to pursue careers in the health professions through exposure to health career options, mentorship, and health and wellness education. Students will participate in engaging and enriching experiences that will foster personal growth and leadership characteristics. The HCPP will be offered in a hybrid format with some sessions held in-person at the Saginaw CMU College of Medicine building, while other sessions will be held virtually through Zoom. (See tentative calendar outline below.) CMU safety protocols must be followed by all involved. This could include, but is not limited to wearing a mask inside
facilities and following other distance and sanitation procedures that may arise. If you are a 9th or 10th grade student in the Saginaw region, considering pursuing a career in the health professions, you are invited to apply through the on-line application form by Friday, February 10, 2023.

Applications to the program will be accepted from schools throughout the Saginaw region. Selection of students for the Health Careers Pipeline Program will involve a holistic review of applications, and considered characteristics will include:
1. Living in an under-served (rural or urban) area of the Mid Central Michigan Region
2. Students in ninth and tenth grade
3. First-generation college student
4. Displayed interest in a health professions career

2023 Spring HCPP Program - Tentative Schedule & Example Session Topics
Weekly emails will be sent on Wednesdays containing session overview information, mini-assignments, and resources. Every Monday, a session will be held to further explore health career content and provide additional mentorship and peer engagement opportunities. Participants should be able to attend all sessions in order to participate in the program.
Build Like a Girl! Free Event February 28th, 2023 at the Great Hall, Midland from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. *Educate young women grades 5-12 on careers in the construction industry. *Explore the skilled trades through hands-on activities. *Learn and talk to females in the industry. Mr. Dennis Barlow, Counseling Consultant / Career Navigator Coach, spent the morning with sophomores discussing the opportunities that are available at the Saginaw Career Complex. The students will be taking a field trip to learn more about the programs on January 24, 2023.
On Wednesday, January 11th and Thursday, January 12th, Staff Sergeant Barnes and Staff Sergeant Boles spoke with students in grades 7- 12 regarding overcoming obstacles, finding your purpose, and using that purpose to keep you moving forward to achieve your goals. We would like to thank these men for their service and for their willingness to help our students see their full potential.

The 23rd Annual St. Charles Winterball is coming up on Saturday, January 28th. Doors open at 5:30 PM and dinner is at 6:30 PM. This great event is an awesome showcase of our students talent and our major fundraiser for our program each year. The show is at Swan Valley Banquet Center in Thomas Township. Tickets are available for $35 per person and $20 for students age 5-12. Our big prizes for this event are an Autumn Wicke made Quilt, Professional Cornhole boards, a BBQ Smoker and other amazing items. Please contact me or Cathleen Kelley if you would like to order tickets. We hope that everyone will consider attending or donating a prize for our evening.
On Sunday, February 5th, from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM there will be an opportunity for seniors to come into Mrs. Hart's classroom (Room 105) to work on scholarships. (Don't forget that the Saginaw Community Foundation Scholarship is due on February 10, 2023.) This is the perfect opportunity for you to have a block of time to work, as well as, to have Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Hart take a look at your scholarships. You can come and go as you please.

Good afternoon, today an incident occurred at the MS/HS level. During the incident our students' safety was not in jeopardy. Following our school safety protocol, the decision was made to initiate a lockdown. This situation has been resolved and we commend our staff and students for how quickly they responded and reacted to the lockdown. Great Weekend of Bowling:
The Bulldog Bowlers were victorious over Coleman and Breckenridge on Saturday at the Alley in St. Charles. High games for the day were Caleb S. (235), Gavin G. (232), Mason H. (217), and Noah S. (192). On Sunday the 8th, the Bulldogs traveled to Battle Creek to compete in the Battle of the Baker Tournament at M-66 in Battle Creek. After a long day of bowling they finished a strong 4th place.
