Hello, St. Charles Community. I am Katrina Hamilton-Kraft, known by students over the years as simply HK. I am honored to be the new high school English teacher in the district.
Since arriving in Michigan six years ago, it has been a joy to teach at Bridgeport and Western High Schools. Michigan creates amazing kids, and I cannot wait to meet the students of St. Charles!
My 25 years in education have brought a wealth of experiences and wonderful people. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Education- Secondary English (minors in creative writing and theater) from Buffalo State University, along with a Master of Arts in Literature, Culture, and Society from Stony Brook University, plus extensive postgraduate work at Fredonia University. This education has given me a fascinating and diverse career! I have taught at high school, business college, community college, and university levels, often simultaneously.
What I have discovered and now bring to St. Charles is a profound love of individual human growth and achievement. To me, there is nothing more powerful than participating in someone else's moment of discovery! I believe in the importance of fun. I strive to make my lessons as interactive and engaging as possible. At the end of each day, we are all in this together.
Outside of teaching, I have a wonderful husband and three grown sons whose lives and choices fill me with joy. I am an avid traveler. This year began in San Diego, then Scotland during Spring Break, England last month, and will end in Peru. The more I travel, the more I dream of seeing.
Everyone I have met at St. Charles has been truly wonderful. I cannot wait to start the school year and meet everyone!

I’ve been teaching for 15 years, with 13 of those years focused on 6th grade. I truly love teaching math and enjoy finding creative, hands-on ways to make it fun and engaging for my students.
My husband, Nick, and I have three wonderful children who keep us on our toes! When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, crafting, and exploring new places.
I’m really looking forward to a great year and getting to know all of you!

I am passionate about helping students grow. I believe in creating a fun, inclusive, and energetic environment where all students can thrive. There’s nothing I love more than sports, staying physically active, and being around kids! Whether it’s through teaching, coaching, or simply being a positive role model, I’m dedicated to making a lasting impact in the lives of others.
I was born and raised in Fenton, Michigan, and graduated from Fenton High School. I then attended Mid Michigan College and Saginaw Valley State University, where I had the incredible chance to play college baseball at both schools. Sports have always been a major part of my life, and I look forward to bringing that same energy, discipline, and teamwork into the classroom and gym.
Outside of school, my world revolves around my family and friends. Whether it's spending quality time with them, staying active, or cheering on my favorite teams, I am always on the move and doing what I love.
I’m genuinely excited to begin my career here in St. Charles, and I look forward to an amazing first year filled with growth, connection, and a lot of Bulldog pride! Let’s have a fantastic year!

This is my sixth year of teaching, and I also have eight years of experience working with kids through church programs and substitute teaching. I graduated from Rochester College, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in reading.
I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 18 years. We are proud parents of a son who is in the 11th grade and a daughter who is in the 6th grade. We also have two dogs and two cats.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and exploring our beautiful state outdoors.
I am excited to join the community and start the new school year!

I recently graduated from Saginaw Valley State University, where I developed a strong passion for mathematics and teaching. When I am not in the classroom, I love spending my free time exploring nature through walks and expressing my creativity with scrapbooking.
I truly believe this will be a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and exciting new experiences. I cannot wait to meet all of my students and to be a part of this wonderful school community!

I grew up in Hemlock, have lived in several parts of Florida for over 10 years, and currently reside in downtown Saginaw. I attended college at both Michigan State and Saginaw Valley. I earned a double major in Health/PE and the Visual Arts and have been teaching for over 18 years. I have taught at the University of Florida Harn Museum of Art, Tarpon Springs High School, Morey Charter School, and Midland High.
My passion for teaching is watching students problem-solve and be creative through drawing, painting, and ceramics! I especially enjoy watching their portfolios grow over time and seeing the joy they find in creating art. My favorite classes to teach are AP Studio Art.
I have a courageous daughter, three hilarious grandbabies, a grand dog named Chunk Norris, and my own “barking bad” golden retriever puppy named Walter. I absolutely love going to concerts and listening to music in my free time. I also spend most of my time up north at my cabin in Oscoda, where I enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, and being outdoors.
I live my life with grit, humor, and compassion, and I am so excited to collaborate with the staff and students here at St. Charles!

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Education, with a Minor in Sustainability, from Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) There, I embraced the land-grant mission of combining classroom theory with hands-on application.
My teaching philosophy is firmly rooted in the experiential learning model. This approach is widely recognized as essential to effective agricultural education, aligning instruction with a three-cycle model of learning that includes Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs), FFA activities, and classroom projects to foster a meaningful, student-driven learning environment.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy farming (this includes working on equipment, planting and harvesting soy and wheat, and raising chickens for eggs and meat), gardening (my favorite things to grow in the garden are peas and potatoes), mountain biking, and cross-stitching, all of which inform my teaching style. These hobbies enrich my ability to help students connect the curriculum to real-world agricultural issues, sustainable practices, and leadership opportunities.
I am honored to guide our FFA chapter, empowering students to grow as leaders, innovators, and responsible stewards of agriculture. I look forward to collaborating with our school community, families, and FFA members to cultivate hands-on learning, sustainability, and creativity across all our programs.

I bring over 14 years of teaching experience and a deep passion for helping students explore the connections between the past and the world we live in today. I graduated first from St. Charles High School in 2000, then from Saginaw Valley State University in 2006. Some members of the community will recognize me as their long-term substitute Biology, Chemistry, or English teacher prior to formally beginning my career at a private boarding school in Northern Vermont. Eventually, I was fortunate enough to continue my career back in Michigan, once again as a Bulldog and then as a Freeland Falcon. I’m excited to finish my career where it started, working alongside old friends and new.
I am ready to get this school year started and look forward to working with the middle and high school students of STC!

Hello, Bulldog Family!!!
I am so excited to be your seventh and eighth-grade English Language Arts teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
I moved with my family to Michigan just over two years ago. Last year, I taught second grade at St. Charles. I love how kind and community-oriented everyone is here, treating each other like one big family. I have eight years of elementary teaching experience and over ten years of working with children in sports.
Throughout my teaching career, I've gained valuable skills from various experiences with my students. These include flexibility, communication, knowledge of different curriculum, and a passion for inspiring my students. I enjoy embracing challenges and building strong relationships. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music from California State University of Fullerton, my Multiple Subject Credential from California State University of Long Beach, and in 2021, I completed my Master's in Educational Technology.
I have been married to my husband for 15 years and am the mother of a 10-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. My hobbies include reading, gardening, hiking, and singing. My passion is inspiring my students and helping them reach their goals.
I look forward to joining the middle school Bulldog family.

I’ve spent the past four years working with children, educators, and families to support students’ behavioral and emotional development. I’m passionate about creating supportive environments where all students can succeed, and I truly believe in the importance of collaboration and early intervention.
I earned my Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University, and I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in the state of Michigan. I’ve worked in outpatient clinics for children with autism, focusing on building strong relationships, using data-driven strategies, and helping students develop the skills they need to thrive socially and academically.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, getting lost in a good book, and watching the latest TV shows on Netflix. I also like DIY crafts and painting during my free time!
I look forward to meeting the St. Charles students, staff, and families. I am here to support you in any way I can!
