On Tuesday, October 22, STC administrators were excited to meet with Michigan State Representative Amos O'Neal and give him a tour of our campus. Deputy Superintendents Scott Sawyer and Erin Senkowski from the Saginaw ISD joined the tour. Finance Director Kelly Cornford, Student Achievement Coordinator Beth Harger, and Superintendent Mark Benson were proud to showcase the district and its potential for future growth.

The elementary school had a couple of visitors. Thank you to Mariah Young and Mr. Russell Yankee for sharing their experiences from their European vacation and showcasing the various currencies they collected. We truly appreciate your insights, which will help our students gain a deeper understanding of this region.

We are hiring! For more information about our job opportunities, contact Shannon Grunas, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, at grunass@stccs.org or 989-865-9961.

Students in grades 9 and 10 were able to create and update their Brag Sheets!
While we generally do not encourage students to brag, we are doing our best to make sure they can identify all of the different activities they participate in and volunteer for and identify their skills and interests. Students use their brag sheets to help them apply for scholarships, fill out college and apprenticeship applications, and share with individuals who they ask for letters of recommendation. Great job, 9th and 10th graders!
On Thursday, students and staff were able to “Dream Big” and wear PJs to school as part of our October College Month activities. Participants were also able to grab “swag” from colleges, trades, and businesses.

On October 16th, students in grades 10-12 had the opportunity to attend the College/Trades/Military Fair held in the St. Charles Middle/High School Performance Gymnasium. The Fair hosted over 45 participants from various colleges, trades, unions, and military branches, along with students from St. Charles, Hemlock, Freeland, Merrill, Swan Valley, and New Lothrop. This was a great way for students to explore their options after high school.

Thanks to Megan Birdwell and the Delta STEM Bus, 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to explore different careers in the STEM field. Students were able to use a robotic arm, virtual headsets, drones, and an electronic Rubics Cube. Thank you to Megan and Delta for this fun experience.

Kayla Petz, St. Charles Community Schools' Mental Health Practitioner, would like to thank the staff and students for their support and participation in Unity Day!
The students participated in Unity Day by wearing the color orange and making paper chains with pledges written on them.
Some examples of the paper chain pledges that the students came up with were:
"Kind is cool"
"Impress your friends a better way"
"Choose Kind over Cool"
"Being Kind is helping others"
"Be a friend, not a bully"
